Can I Deduct Attorney Fees From My Taxes For Work I Did Myself To Collect A Debt?

I’m an attorney. I did substantial work to collect over $100,000 in fees. Can I deduct what I would have paid an attorney or my hourly rate?

Only if you report what you would have paid as income to offset the deduction otherwise stick to your out of pocket expenses.

No you can’t. You didn’t pay the fees. And if you had, you’d have to show that amount as taxable income so it would be a wash and wipe out the deduction.
