I bought real property through a sheriff sale. Now what?

13 Mar

I have just won a bid at a sheriff sale auction in Gwinnett County Georgia. The people at the courthouse advised me to get an attorney to go on about the process of 3rd party tax phase. What is 3rd party tax phase? If I do need a lawyer, what type of lawyer will best serve my purpose? Can I evict the current residents of the property? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

That you have so many legal questions is a sign that you need an attorney.

Since it’s real estate, I would get a real estate attorney.

get one that specialty is real estate law. Try asking the local title companies in your area who they recommend

It sounds like you bought a tax lien. It is not property, it is a lien.

No, you can not evict them, it is not your property.

The advise meant to get an attorney to help you try and collect the back taxes from the owner….who is not you. You bought paper, not property.
