I Have Spent $20,000 In Family Attorney Fees So I Can Have Custody Of My Daughter… Is This Tax Deductible?

I spent $10K in 2008 and so far $10K in 2009…. can i amend my tax return for last yr and use this as an additional tax deduction?

    nope – sorry. It is not tax deductable. However, if you won the case, then sue the childs father for the expenses.

    While attorney fees for an adoption are applicable to the adoption credit, attorney fees in a custody agreement of your own child aren’t deductible.
    Besides adoption, the only attorney fees that are deductible are those which generated you income.
