Is Eric Holder a good choice for Attorney General?

10 Mar

After having Attorneys General under Bush with questionable ethics, it seems to me that Obama might want to nominate someone for this position who is beyond reproach.

Eric Holder supported Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich – a man who made illegal oil deals with Iran during the 1979 Hostage Crisis and was also wanted on charges of tax evasion when he fled the country in 1983.

In 2004, Holder helped negotiate an agreement with the Justice Department for Chiquita Brands International in a case that involved Chiquita’s payment of “protection money” to the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, a paramilitary group that has been designated a terrorist group by the United States government. In the agreement, Chiquita’s officials pleaded guilty and paid a fine of $25 million with the understanding that their identies would remain secret. Holder represents Chiquita in the civil action which grew out of this criminal case.

My gut instinct tells me Eric Holder is a scumbag who is no different than Alberto Gonzales, another scumbag. Does anyone have anything good to say about Holder?

I love this change which he promised. Not in office yet and already lied to his voting constituency. Why are not Obama supporters up in arms? He promised new blood in DC and all we are getting are Clinton retreads.

Don’t blame me……………I didn’t what for the idiot.

Eric Holder is the perfect man for the AG position at Justice. Perhaps, he can use a big broom and get rid of all those civil rights attorney’s that were hired under George W. and blocking civil rights cases. I’d like to be a fly on the wall just to see those blockheads scrambling trying to find a place to “burrow” in at Justice….:)

I believe he most likely has all the credentials needed to be in the Obama Administration. LOL Very good background check!

It does not matter they will all be puppets carrying out the orders of the gray eminence behind the throne.

Still wonder if the Warren Buffet is the “gray eminence”.

The only thing out of those things which bugs me is that he is a Clinton guy. Those other things just go with the job.

Why can’t Obama find anyone new, after campaigning on change? Looks like his strings are being pulled.

It’s hard to condemn a man who represented questionable people or agencies throughout his practice. If we did,we would have to condemn most of the legal representatives in this nation’s history. As tempting as that sounds, that’s the way our system is made. As for what kind of AG he would make? Well as long as he upholds the law of the land, close Gitmo, and stop the illegal use of torture, I’d say that would be a good start.

He got Chiquita to admit guilt and pay a $25 million fine — how is that being a scumbag?
