I have a question about deducting real estate taxes based on information in my HUD-1 Settlement Statement, for a home I bought in September last year. Is there a website or a toll-free number I can call, to ask my questions for free? No offense, but I don’t want to rely on specific advice I receive on Yahoo, because I doubt that would hold up in an audit. I just need a referral to a reliable, trustworthy source of assistance.

I am currently unemployed and may receive a success fee from a seller to whom I referred a buyer. I am not employed by any company and I strictly acted as an individual helping someone out, and being financially rewarded. Estimated amount is upwards of $300,000.
I’m sure I’ll need professional advice to hash out the details, but beside federal and state taxes, will I need to pay social security and/or other taxes that are common to wage earners? Currently in California. Thanks!

I’ve always thought that receiving a refund meant my tax professionals were giving me good tax advice. I just found out from a relative who is a tax pro that I’m NOT getting good service just by always getting a refund from my tax returns. Why is this the case and what should I do to fix it?

Had my own business, fell through, lost everything. IRS states I owe 6 figures, my lawyer said I should get a new bank acc’t as it would take 8-10 months for them to get to the new account information. I’m on the “checksystems” and don’t think I can open a new checking account with another bank. Can I have a family member open one under their name and be listed as well?
