How / when is the Treasury Dept going to notify businesses about the April 1st payroll tax reduction?

04 Aug

I keep hearing news reports that the Dept of Treasury is “in the process” of notifying businesses of the new reduced income tax deductions, but can’t find any official info on the irs.gov website or anywhere else…anyone know more about it?

Can a business in NC switch from Sole Proprietor to LLC in April & retro the date to Jan 01 of that year?

09 May

I have a fast growing Sole Proprietor business of 3 years and I’m heavily considering switching to an LLC in the state of North Carolina. But I’m wondering if doing so in the middle of the year can the “Start Business Date” be retro-ed back to Jan 01, 2010 without penalties or added problems/headaches… or if even possible to do so in NC. Just trying to find out all facts I can before consulting with a business attorney or capable tax accountant. Thanks.

What happens if you file your Berkheimer income tax forms a day later than April 15?

21 Apr

I just realized I don’t have my Berkheimer earned income tax forms completed yet. How strict is the April 15 deadline? I am not home this week and would have to drive home for my tax information. I will be going home tomorrow, so I could do it then. Is there a penalty for sending the Berkheimer forms late? All of our other tax info is done and sent out.

How can we estimate our state income tax for April 15 when we don’t know whether we will be liable for taxes ?

28 Mar

only way that we would actually pay state income tax is if at the end of the year we have a significantly amount of capital gains. Generally we cannot know this until we receive the capital gain information at the end of the year. We are both retired and our retirement income is not taxable. Ordinarily we would be liable to pay Pennsylvania State Tax in Estimated Payments.
