I have a completely virtual, web-based business located in Nevada, where I currently reside. I would like to move to Canada, but I’m unsure of how to best organize my taxes. I do not own property in Nevada.

- I heard about some type of exemption for the first 5 years of residency in Canada, is this still valid?

- Is there some way of keeping my US Citizenship so I can keep my business in Nevada, but still reside in Canada?

- I know if I remain out of the US for all but a few months per year, I will be tax free on the first $82,400 or there about. How can this potentially affect me?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice.
As I own my own business (organized as an LLC) and will not gain employment in Canada, what would be the best way of gaining citizenship. Or, would it be more advantageous not to gain citizenship, somehow?

Like similar to Free Healthcare, except you make legal services a right of the Canadian citizen by requiring that Attorney fees be paid in the form of taxes.

Now, there is equal justice under the law, not just for criminal prosecutions, but civil torts, contract breaches, discrimination in the workplace, everybody can now see a Lawyer like they can see a Doctor.

Depending on the severity of your injustice, you wait for your time to be represented. For example, if you are fired because of your race or national origin, you would get immediate attention.

A system like this would empower some of Canada’s poorest citizens to afford the same legal recourses as wealthy businessmen. Would Canada consider Legal Reform like this?
Or maybe this could be a 2 tier system, where you must begin with a public lawyer, and if that lawyer determines your case is not strong enough for litigation, you can then choose to pay a hefty fee and get a private attorney
Also there would be a key exception to this Legal Reform Idea.

If the entity you are suing is the Govt of Canada, then the Canadian Government would have STRICT laws limiting its powers against an individual citizen/resident, including the amount of funding of its advocates….and Govt money to support your advocates would be your unconditional right…the Legal Governing body would be severed from the rest of Canada’s Govt Workings.

Hi, there are actually 2 questions. If you know either part, please answer.

[1] I have read that for the tax rate, it depends where in NY I register the car. BUT I plan to import it to Canada–it will not be registered in the US. So what is the tax rate if I just buy the car and drive it away?

Other than misc fixed fees, I know there is a rate (based on the car’s value) that I need to pay for the car to be imported into Canada. Is this just the GST of 7% or some other value?

Thanks all!
sorry I mean the GST or 6% (it’s no longer 7%). If I import the car to Ontario, do I just pay the GST of 6% or GST and PST (6+8) of 14%?
