Please help me with an income tax question?

My ex had my 18 year old son declared emancipated when he graduated from high school last June. Since then the ex has had to pay no child support. The ex still has my son on his health insurance, and he intends to claim my son as a dependent on his federal income tax. My question is – How can my ex claim my son as a dependent if my son has been declared emancipated? Is this allowed?
I need to clarify this issue. My son lives with me – not his dad. I am the one supporting him now that his dad does not have to pay child support.

IRS claiming income that does not belong to us. Help!?

IRS sent me a letter about a year ago about an underreported income that belonged to my former husband. We filed jointly during our marriage. This income was pertaining to tax year 2007. He denied ever working for those companies and I believe him. Now that we’re divorced I have no way of contacting him and when I do, he is very uncooperative. I filed for Innocent Spouse Relief and was denied because the lady said it is not a federal case, instead an identity theft case which would be civil. I told her I did everything I could to resolve it but I’m not getting anywhere because I’m no longer with that man, and the companies who are claiming those incomes are not responding to me. They’re telling me to have IRS call them (which I’ve already asked IRS to but they said they don’t do that, I have to settle it myself whichever way I can) or call my police department and file a police report. I tried calling the police dept. but they won’t let me file identity theft on another person. I tried calling my ex husband but he won’t budge :( I don’t know what to do! I’m stuck in this situation that I cannot control because I’m not him and we’re divorced. My Innocent Spouse Relief has been denied and I’ve been trying to call National Tax Advocate and they never answer phone calls and it says I cannot leave a voicemail because their mailbox is full. I filed a petition with tax court and I haven’t been notified of a trial date as of yet. I’ve called UCSD tax lawyer intern to get free representation and currently waiting for a call from them. Even if I did get my ex husband to file a police report, then what?! How do I get the court to believe that it’s not him and to free me from the liabilty? The companies who are claiming the income will not cooperate with me. They’re not returning my calls. I don’t know what to do! Any advise would help me a lot! Thanks!
That is exactly what happened. The company made a mistake in writing down the SS# but they will not talk to me because they could be thinking that I’m just some random person trying to get into someone’s information. I would go over there personally to see them but one of the companies is in Indiana! The other one is local here in San Bernardino, she sent me a corrected W-2 but I don’t know if she corrected it with IRS. Please help me!

Help with small business tax question?

I’m a self employed/independent contractor and I am interested in paying a friend to be my business consultant. I’ve heard that you can pay someone up to $600 and not pay taxes on it or maybe just not have to put together a 1099 for them?

I want to find out whether I can write off the money I pay her and up to how much can I write off and so on.

Any help would be really appreciated!
