Why is my brother getting all of his tax income withheld back?

What’s the difference when doing state taxes between State Income Tax and State Income Tax Withheld?
I’m doing my state taxes, and the form online asks for State Income Tax WITHHELD.
When I look at my W-2 I have something on line 17 that only says State Income Tax which is $316.58. Nothing using the word WITHHELD.
When I study my W-2 further, I realize they do use the term “withheld” for Federal income tax and Social security tax.
Should I enter this $316.58 as State Income Tax WITHHELD? or is that something different in which case I should enter zero $0.00?
Why does my payroll check say tax block in the federal withheld section?
I have filled out another W-4 form to correct the problem. It still says “TAX BLOCKED”. My managers don’t know (neither does payroll). Any ideas why? Thank you!
Will I get anything from my ex’s income tax if withheld?
Here is the situation: last month I looked up my payments online on Texas Attorney General. It showed a payment was mailed on May 15th for $3000. Well a week later I called to find out where was it. After waiting another week I finaly was told that it was a mistake. They said IRS took it away fromthe attorney general. I asked how much he owes me which was a little over $6000 and he owes the state $256. What happened here? He doesnt owe any student loans or anything other than his past due child support. Will my daughter get anything?
Tax lawyers? Anyone? If paid as a “contract worker” and have no taxes withheld, must you pay them quarterly?
For the first time in my life, I am being paid as a “contract” worker and no taxes are being taken out of my paychecks. Do I have to pay the IRS quarterly or can I wait until I file taxes for the year and pay them all at one time?
Can a Federal tax refund be withheld for State debt?
A few years ago I attended a community college in Cincinnati, Ohio. I did not receive financial aid and i did not pay the tuition. The debt went to the Ohio Attorney Generals office and I starting making payments(I’ve paid 2/3 of the debt so far). They took my state refund check this year, which I expected. Can they also take my federal return even though I am making payments on time every month?
Thanks for answering. I called the number and they said nothing was being held, hopefully it won’t change.
When filling out tax forms for your employer, what number do you claim to have more taxes withheld?
If you have more tax withhelf, you get a refund during income tax season. If you get more money on your paycheck you end up paying taxes. I don’t want that to happen to me so on my VA tax forms, what do I claim?
